Princess Margarita to marry
The Netherlands' Princess Margarita de Bourbon de Parme has announced she is set to wed fiancé Tjalling Ten Cate and pregnant with his baby.
The couple are planning a low-key May wedding and expecting their first child together in August.
In a statement the pair described themselves as "very happy", before asking the media to respect their privacy over the coming months.
Maragarita and Tjalling first met two years, and have lived together in Dutch capital city Amsterdam for much of that time.
Bank worker Tjalling, 32, was first introduced to the Dutch public earlier this month when he joined the 35-year-old princess at a party in the capital, thrown for her aunts Queen Beatrix and Princess Margriet.
It is believed they broke their happy news to the rest of the royal family at an intimate gathering following the party.
Margarita divorced first husband Edwin De Roy van Zuydewijn, who she wed in 2001 against the wishes of her family, in 2006.
In 2003, the couple had become embroiled in controversy after accusing the Dutch Secret Service of spying on them and obstructing the business of Edwin's company Fincentives.
It was later revealed the pair had been investigated at the request of Queen Beatrix's personal cabinet.
