Police arrest Queen's servant after a spate of thefts including a vice admiral's medal that popped up on eBay for £350

  • Staff began noticing items going missing from the palace earlier this year
A member of the royal household staff has been arrested after a vice admiral’s medal was stolen from Buckingham Palace and appeared on eBay.
The Companion of the Order of the Bath medal belonging to the Master of the Household, Tony Johnstone-Burt OBE, was discovered listed on the auction website for £350.
Engraved glasses, bespoke picture frames with Prince Harry’s insignia on and handcrafted Smythson stationery were also said to have been stolen.
A 37-year-old hospitality assistant who has worked at the palace for six years was arrested at the Royal Mews last Friday.
