ROME, Dec. 3. 1903 It is officially announced that King Victor Emmanuel has conferred the Great Cordon of Saints Mauritius and Lazarus on J. Pierpont Morgan in recognition of Italy's gratitude for the return by Mr. Morgan to the Italian Government of the famous cope which was stolen from the Cathedral of Ascoli in 1902, and subsequently purchased by Mr. Morgan.
